Reaction: After reading about the seven power lens I can see how this would help students a lot in their studies and in everyday life. Being able to break down an article or picture can help determine what is really going on in the story. To see what they want they want you to see and to understand why they want you to see it. By understanding why they want you to what you see makes it to where you can understand their motive. Usually people call these things subliminal messages. They are used to get you to think a certain way without realizing it.

This is true. Subliminal messaging is in everything and we have become so accustomed to it that we hardly know what the truth really is. I had a teacher last semester ask how we could resist subliminal messaging if, since it's subliminal, we couldn't know it was there...that made us think :)
ReplyDeleteI agree. People need to be careful about what they get from the internet. Students need to learn to be critical of what they read so they don't fall prey to subliminal messages. Good post!

ReplyDeleteI agree that being critical of the media is a very helpful study tool. One of the most important things about researching a topic is knowing the right sources to get your information from.
