Reaction: This is very true that critical thinking it not really taught. Critical thinking seems to be more of something that is excepted of students but no one really shows them how to do it. The one class that I have taken that focuses on critical thinking is philosophy. The philosophy class that I took showed me more in depth on how to think critically and has really helped me in all my classes that I take. If there is one class that should be required even at an early age it should be philosophy because it really is the art of critical thinking. If this was taught early in school I believe that students would do better in their classes than they do now without it.

Excellent post. Todays internet generation has never been taught critical thinking skills simply because they have all the information in the world at their fingertips. No one has to think about how it works or why it works; only that it works.
ReplyDeleteLove your post. Critical thinking is such a necessity. Without it its really hard to "think outside of the box". Critical thinking give you ability to analyze situations differently. Not just in the academic world, but in reality. Great post.
ReplyDeleteLove this! It so closely relates to me. I can read a story 5 times for class and still have a hard time thinking critically about it. Most students can barely comprehend what a story is unless it 100% grabs the students attention. I really agree with you on this post.
