Sean, I really like the Title you gave your video! I too, feel as a lifelong learner that education is a perpetual journey because the learning opportunities surround us daily. I'm looking forward to your future posts as we begin our "voyage" through this class.
ReplyDeleteHey Sean! Good to see you again :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that your title is very clever!
Also, my concerns for this class are very similar in that this seems to be a very progressive and therefore controversial issue, and in our area people tend to be a lot more conservative and traditional. On the other hand, I think that we are our youth's only chance at hearing anything different and it's our duty as educators to teach our students to be aware of the social constructs that media represents. I feel like this would fit well in social studies areas, english, and technology.
Hello Sean,
ReplyDeleteWhat were you doing in your 2nd photo?
The images and quotes you used in your video help create your identity as an educator who believes in active learning, learning from mistakes, and making learning in school relevant to the world outside of school!
ReplyDeleteI think you are really going to enjoy the course text! It does an excellent job of helping educators implement media literacy in ways that promote Common Core standards in non-controversial ways!
George, in the second picture I am doing some beekeeping with Dr. Trisel. Dr. Trisel is the Botany professor at FSU.
ReplyDeleteI just realized who you are! We've met before. I worked with Dr. Trisel for 2 years. It is good to see you here!
DeleteHi Sean,
ReplyDeleteYour video is interesting! How often do you get to assist with beekeeping? Good luck this semester, I look forward to working with you in this class.
Jessica
I can tell you love science and astronomy. You seem to enjoy details and the inter workings of complex things. I feel as though you enjoy the challenge of solving. If I am correct at all my hat goes off to you, because my brain hurts just looking at most problems. The artist in me just wants to erase it away and start over. Nice video!
ReplyDeleteI just gleamed a whole bunch from you that I can relate with! First you are a honeybee keeper. I have participated in honeybee research and shared my knowledge with K-12th grade students and the Marion Co Beekeepers. AND of course FLL. I work for NASA and FIRST. I smiled when I saw Nature's Fury on your video.
ReplyDeleteNice choice of quotes to emphasize your role as an educator. You seem to be a very reflective person.
ReplyDeleteI also noticed that you're into beekeeping? You might know my sister-her name is Malissa Lake. She's really into bees and goes to some Marion County meetings.
I look forward to having this class with you!
Your use of quotes and images does a great job of conveying that you believe learning never stops and happens in and out of the classroom. You remind us that learning takes place anytime and anywhere!
ReplyDeleteYour video set up was awesome! It's so professional. So how is the beekeeping? Were you scared at first? I don't think I would have the courage to do that, cheers to you!
ReplyDeleteSo, I noticed your beekeeping, and had a question. For some reason, I'm been stuck on the idea of brewing mead(honey wine) for awhile. I don't suppose you've ever had it/tried to make it? Random, I know.
ReplyDeleteI loved your video and the way you set it up! Your quotes are very reflective and inspiring! Thank you for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that education is very important as well as being life long learners. Great video.
